Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via Northern Circuit Route
9 Days Northern Circuit Route
Overview
The Northern Circuit is the longest and newest route on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering excellent acclimatization and breathtaking views of the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro. Currently, only a limited number of trekkers have explored this trail, making it a peaceful and uncrowded experience.
This route is ideal for those who enjoy long trekking in remote wilderness, with minimal crowds around. It takes at least nine days to climb Kilimanjaro via the Northern Circuit, which contributes to its very high success rate. An extended 9-day climb with crater camping provides an incredible wilderness adventure on Africa’s highest volcano.
Why Choose the 9 Days Northern Circuit Route?
The 9-Day Northern Circuit Route offers one of the most gradual and comprehensive ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, giving climbers more time to adjust to the altitude and enjoy the mountain without rushing. Its longer itinerary makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a comfortable pace and a stronger focus on acclimatization before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
The journey explores the western and northern slopes of Kilimanjaro, taking you through lush rainforest, open moorland, alpine desert, and remote mountain landscapes. You’ll enjoy spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks while experiencing quieter trails and less-crowded sections of the mountain.
With an extra day compared with the 8-day itinerary, the 9-Day Northern Circuit Route provides more time for acclimatization, rest, and enjoying the surrounding scenery. Combined with experienced local guides and a dedicated mountain crew, it is an excellent option for travelers looking for a scenic, gradual, and rewarding Kilimanjaro climbing experience.

Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% super amazing Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list day trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% the right choice. I’m a south Africa, traveled with a friends. We had solo hikers, couples, and 2 kids, friends in our group of 4.The group camaraderie was priceless. Chance venture tours are true professionals. I felt safe and supported the entire time, plus very well fed with tasty food and I can be a food snob sometimes too. They pick you up from airport, select a great hotel, help with any local excursions, check your gear- have gear you can rent if needed, daily medical checks on the mountain, morning wake ups w coffee or tea, snacks and hot tea during hikes. Kindly reccomended you chance venture tours for the nextadventure of your life time you wont regret to choose them!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A dream came true In September we climbed Kilimanjaro on the 7-day Lemosho route with Chance Venture Tours and we had an unforgettable time! Our guide Goodchance supported us at all times, motivated us with different songs and always took care of our health and well-being. He taught us a lot about the mountain, the landscape and the vegetation. We can now also speak a few words in Swahili. :-) We had a lot of laughs and unforgettable moments with the whole team, for which we are very grateful. The food was always fresh and lovingly prepared. It always tasted delicious. Many thanks to our chef Mokozi! Climbing Uhuru Peak was a dream come true. We reached the summit just in time for sunrise and were able to experience a wonderful morning atmosphere. A big thank you to our porters, Emmanuel, Calvin, Daniel, Gift, Elinami, Jemsi and Anolrd, who worked incredibly hard to support us. We will always remember this amazing week with these lovely people and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for everything. Keep up your positive attitude to life! Hakuna Matata! We can absolutely recommend this company for your Kilimanjaro adventure!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()
