Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via Lemosho Route
8 Days Lemosho Route
Overview
The Lemosho route offers some of the most stunning scenery on Kilimanjaro, featuring breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife, exceptional acclimatization opportunities, and minimal foot traffic making it one of the best choices for summiting Africa’s highest peak. In fact, it’s our personal favorite for reaching the roof of Africa.
Your journey begins with a scenic 3 hours drive from Moshi to Lemosho Gate, located on the western slope of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, you’ll make your way to the famous Shira Plateau, the starting point of your adventure through diverse climate zones ranging from lush alpine meadows to the frozen, high-altitude landscapes. The route is smooth, gradual, and ideal for acclimatization. In fact, Lemosho boasts the highest success rate among all Kilimanjaro routes.
Whether you have six, seven, or eight days to spare, there’s a program that fits your schedule. Longer treks are recommended for better acclimatization, ensuring a safer and more comfortable ascent.
Why Choose the 8 Days Lemosho Route?
The 7 Days Lemosho Route is a great choice for climbers looking for a scenic Kilimanjaro adventure with a well-paced itinerary. Starting from the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro, the route offers a gradual ascent that gives your body valuable time to adjust to the increasing altitude.
Along the 7 Days Lemosho Route, climbers pass through lush rainforest before reaching the beautiful moorland and Shira Plateau, where wide mountain views begin to open up. The route continues through the alpine desert, including the famous Barranco Wall, before heading toward the summit. The well-planned itinerary also supports good acclimatization, making the climb more comfortable and increasing your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
For travelers who want a scenic, challenging, and well-paced Kilimanjaro climb, the 7 Days Lemosho Route offers an excellent balance of adventure, acclimatization, and stunning landscapes.

Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% super amazing Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list day trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% the right choice. I’m a south Africa, traveled with a friends. We had solo hikers, couples, and 2 kids, friends in our group of 4.The group camaraderie was priceless. Chance venture tours are true professionals. I felt safe and supported the entire time, plus very well fed with tasty food and I can be a food snob sometimes too. They pick you up from airport, select a great hotel, help with any local excursions, check your gear- have gear you can rent if needed, daily medical checks on the mountain, morning wake ups w coffee or tea, snacks and hot tea during hikes. Kindly reccomended you chance venture tours for the nextadventure of your life time you wont regret to choose them!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A dream came true In September we climbed Kilimanjaro on the 7-day Lemosho route with Chance Venture Tours and we had an unforgettable time! Our guide Goodchance supported us at all times, motivated us with different songs and always took care of our health and well-being. He taught us a lot about the mountain, the landscape and the vegetation. We can now also speak a few words in Swahili. :-) We had a lot of laughs and unforgettable moments with the whole team, for which we are very grateful. The food was always fresh and lovingly prepared. It always tasted delicious. Many thanks to our chef Mokozi! Climbing Uhuru Peak was a dream come true. We reached the summit just in time for sunrise and were able to experience a wonderful morning atmosphere. A big thank you to our porters, Emmanuel, Calvin, Daniel, Gift, Elinami, Jemsi and Anolrd, who worked incredibly hard to support us. We will always remember this amazing week with these lovely people and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for everything. Keep up your positive attitude to life! Hakuna Matata! We can absolutely recommend this company for your Kilimanjaro adventure!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()
