Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via Machame Route
MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING
Your Journey to Uhuru Peak
Find the Perfect Kilimanjaro Route
Every route offers a different way to experience Mount Kilimanjaro. Whether you prefer scenic trails, peaceful surroundings, a shorter climb, or a route designed for better acclimatization, we have options to match your travel style, fitness level, and adventure goals. Choose your ideal route and take the first step toward reaching Africa’s highest peak.
MACHAME ROUTE
Machame is one of the most scenic and frequently used routes, known for its breathtaking views and good acclimatization profile. It follows the “climb high, sleep low” principle, improving altitude adaptation. This camping route is more challenging than Marangu but has a higher success rate.
LEMOSHO ROUTE
Lemosho is considered the most beautiful route, offering excellent acclimatization and a gradual ascent. It starts in a remote area, allowing trekkers to enjoy solitude before merging with Machame. Although slightly longer, it provides a high success rate and is ideal for those wanting a less crowded experience.
MARANGU ROUTE
Marangu is the only route with dormitory-style huts, making it a popular choice for those who prefer not to camp. It is the shortest and least expensive option but lacks scenic variety and has poor acclimatization since the ascent and descent follow the same path. While convenient, it has a lower success rate compared to other routes.
NORTHERN CIRCUIT ROUTE
The Northern Circuit is the longest route, offering the best acclimatization and panoramic views. It circles the mountain, providing a more gradual ascent and a higher success rate. However, the summit day is tougher due to the longer distance, making it a great choice for those with time and endurance.
UMBWE ROUTE
Rongai approaches from the north side, which receives less rainfall, making it a good choice during wet months. It is often considered the easiest route due to its gradual ascent, although it lacks the dramatic scenery of Machame or Lemosho. Climbers descend via the Marangu Route, staying in tents rather than huts.

Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% super amazing Hiking Kilimanjaro was a bucket list day trip and I was in good hands with chance venture tours. It was 100% the right choice. I’m a south Africa, traveled with a friends. We had solo hikers, couples, and 2 kids, friends in our group of 4.The group camaraderie was priceless. Chance venture tours are true professionals. I felt safe and supported the entire time, plus very well fed with tasty food and I can be a food snob sometimes too. They pick you up from airport, select a great hotel, help with any local excursions, check your gear- have gear you can rent if needed, daily medical checks on the mountain, morning wake ups w coffee or tea, snacks and hot tea during hikes. Kindly reccomended you chance venture tours for the nextadventure of your life time you wont regret to choose them!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A dream came true In September we climbed Kilimanjaro on the 7-day Lemosho route with Chance Venture Tours and we had an unforgettable time! Our guide Goodchance supported us at all times, motivated us with different songs and always took care of our health and well-being. He taught us a lot about the mountain, the landscape and the vegetation. We can now also speak a few words in Swahili. :-) We had a lot of laughs and unforgettable moments with the whole team, for which we are very grateful. The food was always fresh and lovingly prepared. It always tasted delicious. Many thanks to our chef Mokozi! Climbing Uhuru Peak was a dream come true. We reached the summit just in time for sunrise and were able to experience a wonderful morning atmosphere. A big thank you to our porters, Emmanuel, Calvin, Daniel, Gift, Elinami, Jemsi and Anolrd, who worked incredibly hard to support us. We will always remember this amazing week with these lovely people and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for everything. Keep up your positive attitude to life! Hakuna Matata! We can absolutely recommend this company for your Kilimanjaro adventure!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()
